Crooked Colours
and fans alike are eagerly anticipating the release of the Perth trio’s sophomore album‘Langata’ on Friday 17th May, already releasing three singles including ‘I’ll Be There’, ‘Do It Like You’, and ‘Hold On’. Premiered via Flood Magazine, today the trio deliver the last taster before the full LP is released onSweat It Out, with their new single ‘Never Dance Alone’.

Featuring the only collaboration on the album, and their first album feature to date following ‘Vera’, the trio have teamed up with New Zealand indie/pop royalty Ladyhawke. Rising to fame internationally, with the release of her self – titled debut album in 2008, Ladyhawke topped the RIANZ Album Charts, and won an ARIA for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The new single sees the trio explore the complexities of relationships and the feelings of loss and hurt when things all but seem to be falling apart. Providing contrast to some of the faster paced tracks of the record, Crooked Colours have expertly crafted ‘Never Dance Alone’ to seamlessly crossover in their energetic live performances.
Speaking on how organically the single came together, Phil explains “this one was one of those tracks that worked from the start and grew into something very special. I was initially singing both parts in different registers and then we came up with the idea to turn it into a call and response track. Ladyhawke was available and her voice worked perfectly. This is the only feature off our upcoming album and we couldn’t be hap pier to have Pip on the record.”
With three outstanding performances already under their belt as part of Groovin The Moo in Wayville, Maitland and Canberra, Crooked Colours have already seen a massive reception from their fans and fellow festival goers. With their headline album tour for ‘Langata’ kicking off in Hobart this evening, the trio will play the remaining Groovin The Moo shows alongside a stellar lineup of Billie Eilish, MØ and Nick Murphy, before hitting up Fremantle, Brisbane, Coolangatta, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, with the tour wrapping up in Newcastle on 9th June.
